“There is hope. There is help. This is the message I want clients to hear.”
At La Ventana we understand that addiction is a disease and we treat it has a disease.
Our mission is placing the individual before the diagnosis and treating the underlying causes that accompany the addiction.
Our team has a profound understanding of addiction which allows them to deeply hold space between themselves and the client. It is in this very space where clients gain trust and move out of addition with confidence that the generational chain of addiction will stop with them.
The term addiction is used to describe a recurring compulsion by an individual to engage in some specific activity, despite harmful consequences to the individual’s health, mental state or social life. The term is often reserved for drug and alcohol addictions but it is sometimes applied to other compulsions.. Factors that have been suggested as causes of addiction include genetic, biological/pharmacological and mental.
It is generally accepted that addiction is a disease, a state of physiological or psychological dependence or devotion to something manifesting as a condition in which medically significant symptoms liable to have a damaging effect are present.
Drug addiction is considered a pathological state. The disorder of addiction involves the progression of acute drug use to the development of drug-seeking behavior, the vulnerability to relapse, and the decreased, slowed ability to respond to naturally rewarding stimuli.
At La Ventana clients learn coping skills to end their addiction to harmful drugs and alcohol and move into a healthy lifestyle with positive life choices and relationships.
