At La Ventana, a thorough nutritional assessment is conducted as part of the admission process. The results are used to customize a nutritional and physical activity plan, which is unique to each client. Our nutritional treatment is comprehensive and based on the science of nutrition and exercise physiology.
Part of the treatment at La Ventana is to receive professional supervision and support during meals and snacks. Following guidelines learned in sessions with their dietician, clients bring their own food for the majority of their meals and snacks. Clients also experience some meals and snacks that are brought in by La Ventana. Outings to restaurants, grocery stores, and other everyday experiences surrounding food are also included in our program. Many skills are acquired in the nutritional component of the program, including learning how to work through fears of food, gaining coping skills in order to resist urges to engage in eating disorder behaviors, and learning how to nurture and nourish oneself.
