“There is hope. There is help. This is the message I want clients to hear.”
What is Orthorexia Nervosa?
Orthorexia Nervosa is a disordered relationship with eating, that centers on obsessions with “good” food and “clean eating.” This clean eating effort often begins as an attempt to eat in a healthy manner, before moving into rigid and harmful thought patterns and behaviors that are detrimental to physical and psychological health. Eventually, the quest for “perfection” is evidenced by exercise rituals and obsession over clean eating. Food choices become restrictive, in both variety and calories, eventually their health suffers because of it.
