About Sol y Luna
The program pays homage to the sun, stars, and all that is possible within the window of early prevention and treatment specific to the adolescent population. Our children are the future, but sometimes they need help in finding their way.
Sol y Luna for Adolescents
According to the National Health Institute, adolescents of both genders between the ages of 13 and 17 are particularly at risk of developing eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa or Binge Eating Disorder, as they form their identity and community during the developmental years. Adolescence is a distinct developmental stage tied to identity formation; eating disorders disrupt this process.
How We Treat
Sol y Luna addresses the unique needs of male and female adolescents struggling with eating disorders. Our adolescent-only program provides developmentally appropriate care, which gives teens of both genders a safe space to explore the underlying psychological causes of their disorders. Our program returns clients’ focus to age appropriate behaviors as they ask the important questions of who they truly are beyond the confines of any diagnosis.
It Effects the Whole Family
When adolescents struggle with an eating disorder, the entire family is impacted. Our multi-family workshops and family psychotherapy sessions, give clients and their loved ones the tools they need for communication and healing. We hold space and empathy for family members during this difficult time considering the road to recovery and healing as a joint effort.
